“Khosla ka Ghosla” is scripted by Jaideep Sahni (of “Jungle” and “Company” fame) and directed by debutant director and ad film maker Dibakar Banerjee. Shot in Delhi, “Khosla ka Ghosla” is a film that interlaces a generation gap drama in a typical middleclass Indian home with a land mafia story… The film also boasts of a cast with names like Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Praveen Dabbas, Tara Sharma, Naveen Nischol, Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak.

Giving more credence to the film’s script is the role played by Anupam Kher who says the script and the direction are international in quality.  “It’s a role and script that absolutely no actor worth his name can ever say no to!” he says.

Escape From Sobibor
Actors: Alan Arkin, Joanna Pacula
Director: Jack Gold

Escape From Sobiror

Escape from Sobibor was a made-for-TV movie which aired in 1987 about Sobibór, the site of the only successful uprising by Jewish prisoners from a Nazi extermination camp, also called a death camp. It was directed by Jack Gold.

On October 14, 1943, members of the camp’s underground succeeded in covertly killing 11 SS and a number of Ukrainian guards. Of the 600 inmates in the camp, roughly 300 escaped, although most were later re-captured and killed. The escape forced the Nazis to close the camp, dismantling it and planting a forest to hide what they had done.

The screenplay was based on the book of the same name written by Richard Rashke. Alan Arkin and Rutger Hauer were the primary stars of the film. It was filmed at Avala, Yugoslavia. Rutger Hauer received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (television).

Now Choose When You Want Your Movies

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

You can now choose a Preferred Delivery Date when renting movies on Catchflix. You can choose from three date options starting from the soonest we can deliver (i.e. the next day if you order before 4 PM) and the following two days. You can now start planning your weekend on Monday!

Delivery Date

We added this feature when we heard this from members Navneet Singh and Prem Hareesh.

“Right now if we have to watch a movie on a weekend, we have to perfectly plan to order the movie on Thu eve or Fri morning or something like that. I can’t plan and book in advance, e.g., throughout the week whenever I get time, I could go and schedule a movie to be delivered on Fri.” – Navneet Singh, Bangalore

“Lot of times I do not order as if I order I would not be available to collect it on the next 24 hrs. It would be nice if I can specify when I want it to be delivered. For e.g. if I could order on Sunday and indicate that ship on Friday.” – Prem Hareesh, Bangalore

Thanks Navneet and Prem, for your feedback.

Let us know if you have any such cool ideas or suggestions. We are always looking for ways to make renting movies on Catchflix easier and more fun. Email us at info@catchflix.com.

Hotel Rawanda

Hotel Rawanda

The movie is based on the true events that took place during the genocidal violence that erupted in Rwanda between the Hutu and Tutsi ethnic groups in 1994. The central character is Paul Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle), a Hutu who managed the four-star Sabena-owned Hôtel des Mille Collines in Kigali.

The film has received a great deal of critical acclaim, with a 90% ‘fresh’ rating on RottenTomatoes. As of September 2006, the film is ranked #52 in The Internet Movie Database’s ranking of the top 250 films. Capote

Capote

Flamboyant yet mysterious, writer Truman Capote (Philip Seymour Hoffman), who penned the elegant Breakfast at Tiffany’s, was the toast of New York society. But he was also able to channel the grit and grime of what may be one of the most notorious murder cases in Kansas history with his novel In Cold Blood. In researching the crime, Capote found himself in a dance with the devil: the ringleader behind the killings (Clifton Collins Jr.)

Capote is an Academy Award-winning 2005 biographical film about Truman Capote (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal) on a writing assignment for The New Yorker. The film follows the events during the writing of Capote’s non-fiction novel In Cold Blood. The movie itself was based on the biography called Capote by Gerald Clarke.

To Sir with Love

To Sir with Love

The film is very much in a now-established genre in which an idealistic teacher is confronted with a class of cynical teenagers, disengaged from conventional schooling. The film touches on racial issues but concentrates on the usual tropes of teenage angst and inspirational leadership. The film portrays a sanitised and fictional Swinging London. Also brought out are the issues of sexual infatuation between a pupil and teacher, as evidenced by the rather provocative strap-line: A story as fresh as the girls in their minis.

Actors: Akshaye Khanna, Priyanka Chopra, Amisha Patel, Sunil Shetty

Like a man eager to do his job well, Aman plays Anu’s boyfriend with utmost conviction. The two go shopping, partying and doing other miscellaneous things that any two lovers indulge in. It is in this fake romance between the two that we find light-hearted banter. On the parallel, the families of the bride and groom-to-be chip in some tongue-in-cheek hilarity. Shirani’s parents (Anupam Kher and Lillete Dubey) are loud-mouthed Punjabis. Kunal’s parents (Tiku Talsania and Kamini Khanna) are overexcited Gujaratis who love munching snacks and speaking twisted English.
