Directors We Love 

Don’t you just love watching movies directed by Oliver Stone, Steven Spielberg, Mani Ratnam, or Hrishikesh Mukherjee?

Directors We Love is another cool way to find movies you would like to watch by viewing all the movies of the directors you love. And it will help you discover other movies by directors who may not be as famous but are creating a niche for themselves. If you liked Dor or Hyderabad Blues, watch all the other works of Nagesh Kukunoor. If you liked Omkara, you must see Vishal Bharadwaj’s Maqbool as well.

Themes: The Shortest Distance between Two Movies

When you are on the movie details page, you can now see all the themes for that movie and a click on the theme links will take you to a listing of all the movies with that theme. This makes it easy for you to find similar movies.

 For example, if you are reading about Iqbal, you will see Sports and Inspirational Stories as the themes for this movie. Click on Sports to see all Sports-related movies like Goal, The Longest Yard, Million Dollar Baby, Glory Road, Chariots of Fire, Touching the Void, Miracle, Bend It Like Beckham, etc. Or click on inspirational Stories to see inspirational movies like Les Miserables, Gandhi, Black, Pay It Forwards, etc.

 Another example… A Beautiful Mind can take you to other Psychological Thrillers like The Butterfly Effect, Basic Instinct, The Forgotten, Dial M for Murder, Unbreakable, and Mystic River. Or you can browse Biographies like Sardar, Ray, Adolf Hitler, Walk the Line, The Doors and The Last Emperor.

The mapping of movies with themes is going slower than we would like with a little over than half the movies mapped. You will not see themes for the remaining movies for another few weeks.

DVD Region Coding

Each DVD-Video disc contains one or more region codes, denoting the area(s) of the world in which distribution and playback are intended. The commercial DVD player specification dictates that a player must only play discs that contain its region code. In theory, this allows the motion picture studios to control the various aspects of a release (including content, date and price) region-by-region.
